YOUR EMPLOYEE BENEFITS The State Dental Plan offers basic dental coverage and othodontics coverage. Dental Plus is a supplement to the basic dental plan and offers additional coverage. A Basic Long Term Disability plan is free to all full-time employees who enroll in a health insurance plan. This plan will pay 62.5% of your monthly salary with a limit of $800/month. The Supplemental Long Term Disability plan can be purchased for small monthly premium. This plan pays 65% of your monthly salary with a limit of $8000/month. You are eligible for State benefits if you are a full-time employee (30 hours or more), a spouse or common law spouse (who is not a State employee), a child (natural, adopted, or placement) who is under age 19, a child between 19 and 25 who is a full-time student or incapacited. You must enroll in your benefits with 31 days of your hire date of wait for an Open Enrollment period. All changes in your family situation that affect insurance coverage must be reported within 31 days of the event. In our service area, you have four choices for your health insurance - Blue Cross/Blue Shield Standard Plan, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Savings Plan, BlueChoice HMO, and CIGNA HMO. There are several choices for employees....Basic Life Insurance - ($3000) is free to all full time employees who enroll in a health insurance plan. Optional Life Insurance - you may choose three times your basic salary with a limit of $500,000. Dependent Life Spouse Insurance - your spouse may have 1/2 of the amount of your optional life amount with a limit of $100,000. Dependent Life Child - offers $15,000 in life insurance on each of your children for a fixed price of $1.24. Please see your Benefits Guide for more detailed information and for rates. Long Term Care provides coverage for employees, spouses, parents, and in-laws when you are unable to care for yourself. This plan is provided by Aetna and offers 3 options of coverage. Basic MoneyPlu$ allows portions of your insurance premiums to be deducted from your paycheck pretax. Medical Spending Accounts allow you to deduct medical spending dollars from your paycheck pretax. Dependent Care Accounts allow you to deduct daycare expenses from your paycheck pretax. Health Savings Accounts allow you to save medical spending dollars pretax when you are enrolled in the Heath Savings Plan. The State of South Carolina offers two retiremet plans for its employees....South Carolina Retirement System is a defined benefit plan that provides a guaranteed monthly pension with disability coverage. The State Optional Retirement Plan is a defined contribution plan and your retirement benefit is based on the balance in your account when you retire.
